New in Satlantis 🌴 Bitcoin Wallet + Stripe!

The team have been working non-stop and have just delivered two game-changing features that have been looong in the making: Bitcoin wallets and Fiat Payments via Stripe. This is massive news for meet-ups and communities around the world, so make sure to read on! You won't want to miss this ;)

Bitcoin Wallet

Each Satlantis account now comes with a beautiful, built-in Bitcoin Lightning wallet!

It works just like any other Lightning wallet: Pay, Send and Receive. But where it gets cool is how you can use it on Satlantis to buy event tickets with one click, withdraw your Bitcoin earnings from events you run to your own native wallet, and (very soon) send money to your meet up attendees and watch them experience the power of Lightning first hand, without needing to download and install other apps.

This means that, from now on, when you invite someone to an event on Satlantis, you’re simultaneously onboarding them onto Bitcoin and Nostr! How cool is that?

Think about it: a pre-coiner registers for your Satlantis event and instead of ‘talking’ about Bitcoin, you can show them by instantly sending them some sats. It’s the ultimate onboarding tool for Bitcoin communities.

The Satlantis wallet is a custodial wallet designed for ease of use and convenience, much like Wallet of Satoshi or Primal wallets. Of course, we recommend you only keep small amounts of Bitcoin on there and withdraw to your own custody when you’re no longer comfortable with the trade off.

Fiat Ticketing (with Stripe)

You could already buy tickets with Bitcoin. We’ve now added fiat support through Stripe.

While we prefer Bitcoin and love to see communities supporting their members with Bitcoin, let’s be honest: we’re barely 1% of the world population – if even that! Our goal at Satlantis is to make creating, managing and monetizing IRL events & communities easy. That means supporting as many payment options as possible. In fact, having Bitcoin payments as a standard in an app that supports fiat payments directly leads to more people discovering Bitcoin and starting to earn it – which is key to its long term success.

In short, Stripe integration brings us one step closer towards building the best events app in the world, and towards orange-pilling the 99% 😎 Event organizers and communities will come for the events’ experience and will stay for the permissionless money.

This is why we will soon also be adding stablecoin support (the go-to currency in the Global South).

That’s the big two features. Along with these, we’ve been busy polishing and improving the app and overall experience. Here’s a quick rundown:

New, Redesigned Profiles

As we move away from the ‘social media’ concept, we’ve been rethinking what Satlantis profiles are and how they should look. We’ve now placed the profile picture front and center, along with all your relevant social & contact links – a bit like a Linktree page.

Events, Calendars & Collections have replaced Posts to reflect our new, event-centric identity. No more digging through different tabs, trying to find the events you’re hosting or attending. 

Altogether, it’s a simpler, cleaner and more effective profile page which you can use to connect with people and, in time, as a great “home page” for your event or community.

Announcements

Our announcements tool has been greatly improved to give event organizers a host of new options to communicate and manage guests, attendees and invitees.

Besides sending preview emails to test your announcements, event organizers get granular control over whom they’re sending them to! Like a proper CRM. Approval status, those going, those interested but who haven’t bought a ticket yet, invitees who have declined, etc. You can even upload a custom .csv if you have a list elsewhere.

Once again, our aim here is to provide organizers, who are the lifeblood of the events and communities space, with the best tool for creating, managing and growing their events and communities.

There is still a lot of work and polishing to be done, but it is exciting to see how good Satlantis has gotten in just a few months! We’re taking a break from big new feature releases and focusing on improving all the ones we’ve released to date. That means everything will look and feel much smoother next time you hear from us.
